Reminders and Tips for Bay Area Residents Dealing with Hazardous Weather

BAY AREA, CA -- Rain is in the forecast for the next couple of days, and so the Campbell Police Department has provided some helpful reminders to ensure that you and your families can be prepared for potential flooding and other hazards.

Got sandbags?
If your home is at risk of flooding, you may be able to get sandbags from your city or town's public works department. Call or visit your city or county's website to find sandbags in your area. Also, when picking up sandbags, remember to bring something such as a can or shovel to scoop the sand, and to dress appropriately.

Power up.
Are you adequately prepared for a power outage? If you don’t own a generator, be sure your mobile phones are charged in case of emergency and you have flashlights on hand with a supply of extra batteries. Contact PG&E for up-to-date information on power outages in your area: (800) 743-5000.

Don’t wait. Communicate.

Slow down, drive carefully.
Exercise caution when driving in the rain and avoid driving through standing water. Be sure to check local traffic reports for highway and road closures. Visit the California Highway Patrol website at https://www.chp.ca.gov/traffic or Caltrans website at http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roads.cgi.

Check the weather.
Visit the National Weather Service website http://www.weather.gov/for the most accurate weather conditions.
