Road Closures Listed For Napa Valley Marathon

Runners will hear the crack of the starting pistol about 7 a.m. Sunday for the 38th annual Napa Valley Marathon. Here are roads closed.

NAPA VALLEY - Runners for the 38th Annual Napa Valley Marathon may need to bring rain gear Sunday when runners pace from Calistoga to Napa.

As of Friday afternoon, the Calistoga weather forecast for Sunday calls for a 90 percent chance of rain, with the high near 56. The forecast for Napa isn't much better; an 80 percent chance of rain with a high near 60. Temperatures could be in the low 40's when the race begins.

Marathon organizers provide transportation at no cost to each registered runner from the finish line at Vintage High School, 1375 Trower Avenue, Napa to the starting line in Calistoga.

Buses begin leaving for Calistoga at 5:15 a.m.

Napa Police say if you want to come out and watch, the best viewing of the runners is from the east end of up valley crossroads accessed from SR-29, or at the finish line at Vintage High School.

The marathon posted some last minute advice from a Kaiser doctor on its website for runners preparing for Sunday's race.

Sunday March 6th 38th annual Napa Valley Marathon

On Sunday March 6th between the hours of 10 a.m. and noon the following roads will be closed for the 38th annual Napa Valley Marathon:

Starting in Calistoga on the Silverado Trail near Rosedale Road to Highway 128 will be closed to all traffic except residential and emergency vehicles.

Continuing on the Silverado Trail from Highway 128 to Yountville Cross Road the south bound Lane will be closed.

Starting at the Yountville Cross Road the Silverado Trail, Oak Knoll Ave, Big Ranch Road and El Centro Ave to Vintage High School will all be closed to all traffic except residential and emergency vehicles.
