Senate OK's Bill to End Shutdown, Avert Possible Default

Stocks rise on last-minute agreement.

Β The U.S. Senate has passed a bill to end the federal government shutdown, CNN is reporting.

TheΒ  U.S. House of Representatives is supposed to quickly follow suit and approve the bill.

President Obama this afternoon went on national TV to announce the agreement and said he would sign the bill as soon as it reaches his desk.
