Silverado Trail Crash Causes Outage, Blocks Roadway

At least 1,800 customers were without power because of the crash.

NAPA COUNTY, CA — A traffic collision with injuries Monday in the Yountville area shut down Silverado Trail for several hours and caused a power outage affecting more than 1,800 customers.

The major-injury crash happened shortly before 3 p.m. Monday at 5585 Silverado Trail, just north of Capps Drive, and caused live wires to come down onto the roadway, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The Napa County Sheriff's Office advised that Silverado Trail was closed between Oak Knoll Avenue and Yountville Cross Road because of the crash. Motorists should use alternate routes, the sheriff's office said.

PG&E confirmed a car hit a pole, causing an outage affecting 1,869 customers. As of 7:20 p.m., service was restored to 1,842 customers, PG&E Spokesperson Denny Boyles told Patch.

"Currently, we have both transmission and distribution crews on site working on replacing the broken pole," Boyles said.

Shortly before 8 p.m. Monday, one lane of Silverado Trail was reopened. Traffic control was in effect and delays were to be expected, the sheriff's office said.

There was no word on the extent of injuries in the crash.
