Updated: Skeletal Remains Discovered In North Napa County
Investigators were on scene on Butts Canyon Road north of Angwin most of the day on Thursday.

UPDATE 4:30PM FRIDAY-
The Napa County Sheriff's Office is trying to identify the remains of two people found alongside a road in northern Napa County Wednesday afternoon.
Workers in the area of a concrete project in a rural development spotted a human skull as they drove on Butts Canyon Road near the Lake County border that was burned in a fire less than two years ago, sheriff's Capt. Steve Blower said.

When the workers confirmed it was a human skull, they called the sheriff's office and deputies responded to the scene, Blower said.
Investigators returned Thursday and searched a hillside within a half-mile area. Several human bones from two individuals were taken to the coroner's office and were still being analyzed Friday afternoon. It is not known how long the remains were there, and some clothing also was recovered, Blower said.

There are no missing persons cases in that area of northern Napa County, Blower said.

NAPA - Napa County investigators spent most of the day Thursday examining skeletal remains found just off of Butts Canyon Road.
Someone reported seeing what appeared to be a human skull in northern Napa County on Wednesday, Napa County Sheriff's Capt. Keith Behlmer told the Napa Valley Register.
Behlmer confirmed for the paper that the skull was human. He said the bones of two individuals were also found.
The Sheriff's Department is asking anyone who may have information about the find to call their non-emergency phone number at (707) 253-4280.
