Standoff Prompts Shelter-In-Place Order In American Canyon

The standoff between police and a man with guns barricaded inside a house lasted for around two hours.

AMERICAN CANYON, CA — A domestic violence suspect was involved in a standoff with American Canyon police Tuesday after he barricaded himself in a house.

Officers with the American Canyon Police Department responded to reports of a family disturbance just after 4 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of Danrose Drive. Once there, officers learned that 46-year-old Ernesto Alejandro Solorio, after pushing the victim, had barricaded himself inside with guns, police said.

The victim was able to leave the house and called police for help.

Neighbors were asked to shelter in place while officers negotiated with Solorio to peacefully come out of the house and surrender.

Some two hours later, Solorio surrendered and was taken into custody, police said.

Solorio was booked into Napa County jail at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of domestic violence and false imprisonment.

He remained in custody Wednesday with his bail set at $25,000.
