Woman Killed In St. Helena Hit-And-Run, Driver Arrested: Police
A 43-year-old Yountville man has been arrested on suspicion of hitting a Napa woman with his car while she was walking on Main Street.
ST. HELENA, CA — A Napa woman died from injuries suffered in a suspected hit-and-run Sunday in St. Helena.
The St. Helena Police Department identified the victim as Jackie M. Rhodes, 81, of Napa.
The fatal incident happened around 10 a.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of Main Street, St. Helena Police Department Lt. Justin Tharp said.

Rhodes was an avid walker and was walking northbound on the shoulder —bike lane — when she was struck and thrown into a ditch adjacent to the roadway.
"Rhodes was conscious and alert when discovered by pedestrians shortly after the collision, Tharp said. "Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa. Our thoughts are with Ms. Rhodes' family and friends as they navigate this profound loss."

The St. Helena Police Department immediately launched an intensive investigation, the lieutenant said. Utilizing FLOCK automatic license plate reading cameras, the suspect vehicle was quickly identified.
With assistance from the Napa County Special Investigation Bureau, the Napa County District Attorney's Office, the Napa Police Department, and the Napa County Sheriff’s Department, the suspect, identified as Dominic Carvalho, 43, of Yountville, was located and apprehended.
He was arrested late Wednesday and was booked into the Napa County jail early Thursday on suspicion of multiple felonies, including felony hit-and-run resulting in death or injury. His bail was set at $100,000.
