Yountville to Extend, Enhance Bike Path, Sidewalks North of Town

Contractors for the Town of Yountville will begin a $111,000 bike path and sidewalks project next week on the north side of town.

 Workers from Fieldstone Construction will arrive Monday, Oct. 7 to scheduled to begin the capital improvement project.

Work will improve bicycle and pedestrian facilities from the existing “Yountville Mile” multiuse path on the east side of Highway 29 along Madison Street and Yountville Cross Road to the town’s eastern limit.

The project includes:
• Install new and replace existing Class II bike lane striping on Madison Street, Lincoln Avenue, Yount Street, and Yountville Cross Road.
• Create a new path connection from Webber Avenue to the existing “Yountville Mile” Multiuse Path on the east side of Highway 29
• Restripe and stamp the crosswalks at the Washington Street/Madison Street intersection.
• Add a new ADA compliant path through Yountville Community Park to provide access to the existing restrooms.
• Construct Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant access ramps per Caltrans Standards along the route.

The contractor will provide notification of the street closures and parking restrictions in advance of the work. The project should be completed by Nov. 18, weather permitting.

This project is part of the 2013/2014 Capital Improvement Program, has a contract amount of $111,210, and is funded with Gas Tax Fund and a Federal Transportation Enhancement grant.
