Former City Attorney Sentenced to Probation for DUI

David Hunt pleaded guilty this week to driving under the influence of alcohol.

David Hunt, the former Newport Beach city attorney, was sentenced this week to three years probation for his conviction, according to Orange County court records.

Hunt, 54, of Santa Ana, pleaded guilty Monday to driving under the influence of alcohol and was sentenced to three years probation, three months of a first offender alcohol program, ordered to pay $390 in fines and restitution, court records show.

Hunt was arrested Sept. 30 after he ran his car into a parked car in a parking lot at the dead end of Ford Road. Hunt was re-hired as an outside contractor by the city in September, less than one month . However soon after his arrest, the city of Newport Beach the contract.
