Library Features UCI Researcher to Explain 'the Aging Eye'
Dr. Roger Steinert, director of the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute, will discuss leading edge issues and innovations in ophthalmology.

The Newport Beach Public Library, in collaboration with UC Irvine Health, will host the second lecture in the three-part Medicine In Our Backyard series discussing research and leading edge technology on a variety of topics related to medicine.
The upcoming program on Monday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. will feature Dr. Roger Steinert, director of the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at the University of California, talking about the “The Aging Eye: Keeping Your Vision Young. The program will be held in the Central Library Friends Meeting Room, 1000 Avocado Ave., Newport Beach.

Roger Steinert, M.D. holds joint appointments at UC Irvine as Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology and Professor of Biomedical Engineering. He combines a consultative practice in cataract, refractive and corneal surgery with teaching and translational laboratory research in these fields. He will discuss leading edge issues and innovations in ophthalmology.
On Monday, October 20, geneticist Paolo Sassone-Corsi, PhD will speak about “Circadian Rhythms – Setting Your Body’s Internal Clock” in the third lecture of the series.

Medicine in Our Backyard lectures are held in partnership with UC Irvine Health. The events are free and open to the public. Seating is first-come, first-served, limited by room capacity.
