Newport Beach police on Monday were investigating the cause of a crash that killed a 45-year-old Lake Elsinore man. Donald Fuschetti was struck by a Lexus SUV about 8:15 p.m. Sunday as he was walking within a crosswalk on Rutland Road, crossing Westcliff Drive, according to Jennifer Manzella of the Newport Beach Police Department. There is no traffic light at the intersection, she said. Fuschetti was pronounced dead at an area hospital at 11:15 p.m. Investigators do not suspect that drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision, Manzella said. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police, she said. Anyone with information about the collision was asked to call investigator Dave Darling at (949) 644-3746.
