Newport Rehab Center President Pleads Guilty to Domestic Violence

The president of Newport Beach-based Morningside Recovery pleaded guilty last week to a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence, according to Orange County court records.

Raymond Jeffrey Yates entered the guilty plea Friday at the Harbor Justice Center. A sentencing enhancement for causing great bodily injury was dismissed the same day, court records show. Yates was sentenced to three years probation, ordered to pay restitution and to attend a batterers' treatment program.

The case against Yates stems from Dec. 4, when Newport Beach police arrested him in the 1900 block of Commodore Road following a physical altercation. Yates remains free on $50,000 bail.
