News Brief: Seismic Retrofitting Squeezes Lanes at JWA
The airport's roadway system is undergoing a seismic retrofit to comply with new structural requirements.
The arrival entrance lanes into John Wayne Airport have been narrowed to make way for a seismic retrofitting project, an airport official reported.
The lower level roadway has been squeezed to allow for crews to work on the pillars that reinforce the upper level/departure roadway. Lane closures will be in effect between 3 a.m. and 3 p.m. through March. Jenny Wedge, airport spokeswoman, says the seismic retrofit is needed to comply with new requirements to make sure the roadway is equipped witht the most current safety and seismic standards.
"Passengers and visitors to the airport are advised to exercise extreme caution while driving on airport roadways and to adhere to the posted speed limits," Wedge said in a released statement.
