Alex Camacho Stars in Lifetime's 'To Kill a Stepfather'

The Actress Explores a World of Lies of Passion and Murder in the Upcoming Television Drama Debuting July 30!

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Acclaimed actress Alex Camacho (“Wild West Chronicles”) plays a young woman embroiled in a world of lies, passion and murder in “To Kill a Stepfather,” a new film drama debuting at 5 p.m. PDT/8 p.m. EDT on Sunday, July 30 on Lifetime.

“I am thrilled to be a part of this exciting new film about a unique family dynamic,” Camacho said. “The film touches on the many issues that revolve around the strong family relationships that get tested in the midst of this compelling drama.”

The movie tells the story of Nicole Ray, a young woman who discovers her mother is facing murder charges and must now immerse herself in the case which reveals some dark secrets. The film is directed by Peter Sullivan (“Secret Obsession”) and features Elyse Mirto (“The Last Ship”), Kelly McCart (“Final Stop”), Avis Wrentmore (“Eleventh Hour”), Jamel King (“Inside Voice”) and Andrea Pazmino (“Cassandro”).

“What initially drew me to the role of Nicole was the movie's unique emphasis on exploring the profound relationship between a mother and her daughter,” Camacho said. “While I do enjoy a good romance, I found the depth and complexity of this familial bond to be truly captivating.”

The role was especially compelling for Camacho who found much to love about her multifaceted character who must balance her love of family with the search for answers.

“Nicole's character fascinated me from the start. She possesses a remarkable blend of strength, wit, and determination, which instantly resonated with me,” she said. “Her sharp tongue is a testament to her authenticity and refusal to compromise on her beliefs. I believe characters with such integrity are essential as they reflect real-life complexities, and playing Nicole allowed me to portray a character with genuine depth.”

She added: “Beyond these qualities, what truly struck a chord with me was Nicole's relentless pursuit of truth. Her unyielding quest for answers and understanding mirrors a trait I hold dear in my own life. I found myself easily relating to her, and this connection with the character inspired me to delve even deeper into the role.”

The movie will also replay at 1 p.m. PDT/4 p.m EDT on Sunday, Aug. 6.

The young actress’ past work includes such films as upcoming film drama “Touch the Water,” with Ernest Tsotsie (“Fifth World”) and Dan Weisgerber (“Ghost Town”), from director Travis Holt Hamilton (“More Than Frybread”) She also starred in “Happy Birthday,” “A Meal to Heal All Wounds,” “The Rainmaker,” and others.

Besides films, Camacho also has a passion for the theater. She stars in “The Museum of Safekeeping,” a new play which made its debut this month in Los Angeles.

Born Alexandra Mary "Alex" Camacho in Phoenix, Arizona, to single mom Donna (Abbott), a school bus driver and dedicated mother. Alex was named after her biological father, Alexander Camacho. She is of English, Scottish and Spanish descent.

Camacho began acting as a child in school productions in Phoenix. She appeared in many more productions through her early teens in her local Theatre and until the age of 18, where she chose to pursue a college degree at Arizona State University. She earned a B.S. in Neuropsychology
