Massis Kabob To Open First Stand-Alone Restaurant In Glendale
The 45-year-old "Original Kabobery," known for its falafel, gyros and kabobs, operates six mall-based locales throughout Greater L.A.
GLENDALE, CA — Massis Kabob, a 45-year-old restaurant chain specializing in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine, is poised to open its first stand-alone store Sept. 3 in Glendale.
Opening day festivities will include a “block party” street extravaganza with live music performances from Armenian singer Harout Pamboukjian, a mariachi band, a live DJ, giveaways, along with churro sundaes, an ice cream truck and Armenian coffee made using hot sand.
The family-run business, founded in 1976 at the Glendale Galleria, will open its new locale at 301 S. Glendale Ave, at the corner of Colorado Boulevard, with indoor and outdoor dining and more than 20 feet of open-fire barbecue grilling.

Dubbed "The Original Kabobery," Massis Kabob currently operates six mall-based locations serving up such menu staples as falafel, gyros and kabobs, plus hummus, taboule, pita bread, baba ghanoush, Shirazi salad and Persian basmati rice or fries.
The new flagship restaurant will realize the dream of Massis Kabob's late founder Hacop "Jack" Baghdassarian — who sought to bring Armenian and Persian-influenced cuisine to the forefront of California culture, according to his family.

“The Glendale community has been welcoming and supportive of our family for nearly five decades, so it’s only fitting that we debut our first stand-alone restaurant in the city that helped make Massis Kabob what it is today,” said Gevik Baghdassarian, who along with his brother Peter, took over the business after their father’s death in 2017.
The South Glendale Avenue location will offer pick-up and delivery service via the eatery's Kabobery Klub mobile app. First-timers who download the app will receive one complimentary side with a first order, along with earning points and rewards.
Also on the menu are Family Meal Packs ($44.95 – $59.95), that serve four to five, featuring chicken or beef kabob skewers, rice, pita bread, Shirazi salad, hummus and taboule.

Other Massis Kabob locales are at its original site at Glendale Galleria, along with Westfield Century City Mall, Westfield Santa Anita Shopping Mall, Westfield Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks, Westfield Culver City and Westfield Topanga Mall in Canoga Park.
