North Hollywood Man ID'ed In Fatal Van Nuys Shooting

LAPD continues to look for a suspect in connection to the killing.

VAN NUYS, CA — Authorities identified the victim in Wednesday morning's fatal shooting in Van Nuys, while continuing to search for a suspect. The incident took the life of Garrett Quintanilla, a 34-year-old resident of North Hollywood.

The shooting happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday in the 6900 block of Peace Avenue. Officers arrived at the scene after multiple 911 calls reporting shots had been fired n the area.

Quintanilla was found about six feet away from a black BMW SUV that had just crashed into a fence, its engine still running.

"Detectives believe the SUV is connected to the victim, a nearby home may have been a part of the incident, and that the incident is possibly drug-related," according to an LAPD statement.
