Matthew Allen Leonard, age 31, of Joliet, IL, and formerly of Northern California, passed away suddenly, Thursday, December 30, 2021.

Born January 24, 1990, in North Hollywood, CA, he was the son of Robert and Cheryl A. (Hill) Leonard. Matt was raised in Valley Springs, California.

In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his brother, Bryan J. Leonard; his loving friend and partner, Shelbi; his beloved dog, Scrappy, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was employed in construction as a heavy equipment operator.

Matthew will be remembered fondly by all who knew him as an adventurer and artist who possessed a very lovable personality. He would gladly take his shirt off if you were cold. Those who knew him, he will always have a special spot in their hearts for him.

Funeral services for Matthew Leonard will be held Friday, January 7, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. Visitation will begin at the conclusion of Matt’s services until 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.
