LA Firefighter Injured In Chatsworth Brush Fire

A Los Angeles firefighter on Monday was sent to the hospital after fighting a small Chatsworth brush fire.

CHATSWORTH, CA — A firefighter on Monday was injured fighting a brush fire in Chatsworth.

The firefighter was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury, according to the department. He was injured "while moving swiftly during emergency operations in rocky terrain," authorities said. There were no other reported injuries.

The fire started at 22230 West Chatsworth Street around 3:43 p.m. and was fully contained by around 5 p.m. just under a half-acre, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. No structures were damaged, according to LAFD.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to the department. Firefighters monitored the fire after it was controlled for flare-ups.

Metrolink lines between Simi Valley and Chatsworth were closed while crews tackled the flames, but were fully reopened by about 5 p.m.

This was the second fire of the day in Chatsworth following a fire at about 1 p.m. near the 22000 block of West Chatsworth Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters stopped the forward progress of the fire at about a quarter-acre within a half hour, and crews remained on scene dousing hot spots.

Authorities will investigate whether the two fires were related, according to the department.
