2 San Fernando Valley Restaurants Ranked Among 38 Best In LA County

LOS ANGELES, CA — Eater recently released its most recent listing of the 38 best restaurants in Los Angeles County, which includes two eateries in the San Fernando Valley.

The food publication offers an updated version of its top-38 rundown each quarter — which it terms a list of "essential" restaurants, from fine dining institutions to mom-and-pop gems.

"At its core, the city’s far-flung neighborhoods, cultures, and flavors coalesce into an array of culinary boundary-bending restaurants that make it undeniably the most compelling place to dine in the country," Eater wrote.

Eater included the following Valley spots on its list:

Anajak Thai Cuisine — Sherman Oaks

"Anajak Thai has been the object of tremendous media attention for good reason. Chef (and conceptual artist) Justin Pichetrungsi took over his father’s decades-old Sherman Oaks restaurant; kept its quirky, weathered interior adorned with artwork; and installed one of the best wine lists on the West Coast. The younger Pichetrunsgi adjusted the menu with top-quality seafood, such as hamachi, local farm-raised shrimp, and dry-aged fish fillets dressed with nam jim sauce and kept popular dishes like the pad kee mao, fried chicken, and Dungeness crab fried rice."

Oy Bar — Studio City

"When Jeff Strauss opened Oy Bar in 2022, he took over the shuttered 50-year-old Oyster House and turned the longtime Studio City spot into what some consider a hip dive bar. But dive bars don’t have food or cocktails this inventive. But at Strauss’s nighttime spot (he also owns Highland Park’s popular sandwich spot Jeff’s Table), the room turns into a low-lit place where the rotating menu is not so much seasonal as suited to Strauss’s moods."
