2.0 Quake Near Malibu; Did You Feel It?

The 7:04 a.m. shaker was described as a "small thump."

A small earthquake rattled the northern Santa Monica Bay shoreline today, according to automated seismographs operated by the USGS.

The magnitude 2.0 shaker struck at 7:04 a.m., and was epicentered about 5 miles south of Point Dume, or 32 miles west-southwest of the Los Angeles Civic Center.

A journalist at Zuma Beach described it as a small thump, similar to a sonic boom.
