5 Injured In Freeway Crash Involving Inmate Transport Van
Five people were injured in a crash involving a sheriff's inmate transportation van Monday morning.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Five people were injured in a crash involving a sheriff's department inmate transport van on the 5 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley Monday morning.
The crash occurred before 9 a.m. on the northbound 5 Freeway at the 118 Freeway interchange. The crash involved a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department van and at least one other vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Paramedics coordinated treatment and transportation of five total patients, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

It's unclear whether any of the patents were people in sheriff's custody.
Traffic continued to be impacted as of 10:30 a.m., when the carpool and No. 1 lanes of the northbound 5 were closed in the area of the crash.

Traffic was backed up three miles to Branford Street and motorists were told to expect delays of up to 10 minutes, according to a Sigalert.
