405 Freeway Brush Fire In Granada Hills Doused

LOS ANGELES, CA — Firefighters made quick work of a small brush fire in Granada Hills Monday amid red flag conditions.

The blaze broke out just before 4 p.m. alongside the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway at Rinaldi Street in Granada Hills, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire scorched an acre of light brush burning on a steep slope east of the 405, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz. Within minutes, crews had the flames extinguished.

The aggressive firefight came amid red flag Santa Ana wind conditions that have Southern California on edge as hundreds of firefighters continue to mop up hot spots in the nearby Eaton and Palisades Fire zones.
