Santa Clarita Brush Fire at 32 Acres, 85 Percent Contained [UPDATE]

Firefighters have stopped the forward progress of the fire. No homes are being threatrened at this time.

SANTA CLARITA, CA -- A wind-stoked brush fire caused by arcing power lines scorched more than 32 acres in the Santa Clarita area Friday and was about 65 percent contained, authorities said.

The fire was reported at about 7:15 a.m. near Newhall Ranch Road and Copper Hill Drive, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. No structures were threatened.

No evacuations were ordered and no injuries have been reported, but the nearby Einstein Academy school voluntarily evacuated, officials said.

Due to power lines in the area, there were some early problems reported using water-dropping aircraft.

Crews planned to remain on scene throughout the night.
