Catch a Free 'Ferris Bueller' Screening and Last Chance for Local School Drive

Check out these five ways to kick off and enjoy your weekend.

1: Head to the Westfield Topanga for a free outdoor screening of the 1980s classic, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Subway and Robeks will have food and drinks available for purchase along with other vendors who will offer treats, such as BBQ, ice cream, cotton candy and popcorn. Westfield Topanga will be laying down Astroturf and providing picnic tables and chairs, but guests are welcome to bring their own beach chairs and blankets. The screening starts at 8:20 p.m. and will take place at the Owensmouth Garage of the Westfield Topanga Mall. 

2: Today is the last day LAPD Devonshire PALS is collecting supplies to help send local kids back to school with the items they need. They are collecting school supplies for elementary, middle school and high school students including but not limited to; notebook paper, folders, pens, markers, glue sticks, binders, spiral notebooks and crayons. Items can be dropped off Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thanks you supporting our PALS kids as we make 2013 the best school year ever. Greig Smith LAPD Devonshire Youth Center, 8721 Wilbur Ave.

3: The Chatsworth Historical Society is hosting an open house at the Homestead Acre from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday.The property is a "quaint circa 1910 redwood bungalow with flower and fruit tree gardens, situated on 1.3 acres of land."

4: Senior citizens are invited Saturday morning for a special "golden yoga" course  at Artistic Healing Studio in Chatsworth. This class is available Saturday's at 8:50 a.m. and Sunday's at 10 a.m. AM. Senior rate $7.00 per class, bring a friend and it is two for $10. 9811 Owensmouth Ave., Studio 6.

5: Today will be sunny with a high of 85 in Chatsworth and Northridge, according to the National Weather Service.
