Fatal Motorcycle Crash Triggers Hours-Long 405 SigAlert In North Hills

The crash shut down the northbound 405 freeway in North Hills for more than four hours Friday morning.

NORTH HILLS, CA — A biker was killed Friday in a crash with a sedan on the San Diego (405) Freeway in North Hills, triggering an hours-long SigAlert.

The crash involving a motorcyclist and a black sedan occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on the northbound side of the freeway at Nordhoff Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. The CHP shut down all northbound lanes for the investigation, and they remained closed for more than four hours. The CHP reopened the lanes at 6:34 a.m. as the morning rush hour began.

When CHP officers arrived on scene they found the biker dead at the scene in the middle lanes of the freeway along with a dark sedan involved in the crash. Authorities did not release an identification for the motorcyclist, pending notification of the person's family.
