History to Come Alive at Historic Park This Weekend

A planned hike this Saturday will be a gateway to history at Santa Susana Pass State Historic State Park.

Everything from stagecoaches to how the quarry split the rock, the Chumash and old railroads will be featured in fun interactive exhibits and games during "Chatsworth History Comes Alive."

The free event is from 9 a.m. to noon and will be led by guides.

Here's some tips from the event organizers, the Friends of the Santa Susana Mountains:

"Wear good walking shoes with closed toes (no sandals) and be sure to bring water. Four legged friends on leash are welcome (bring plenty of water for your
furred friend!) Remember your sunscreen.  This 2 mile walk has been rated easy
– moderate, but even if you don’t have time for the entire loop there is plenty to
see and do at the park entrance. Join us as Chatsworth history comes alive!"

To get to the event, head west on Devonshire until it ends.  Turn left at Larwin, park along the street; the entrance is just down the street at the power lines.
