Hot Pockets Cool Down; 103 Layoffs in Chatsworth
'There's a change in consumer demand,' spokesman says.

Nestlé USA will lay off 103 Chatsworth employees on February 1, according to the San Fernando Valley Business Journal.
The Chatsworth facility at 9601 Canoga Ave. will chop production from six days a week to four.

Folks just are't buying as many Hot Pockets frozen sandwiches as before, Roz O’Hearn, spokesperson for Nestlé Prepared Foods, told the Business Journal.
“The economy has affected the frozen food business,” O’Hearn said. “The prices of ingredients have increased and there’s a change in consumer demand.”

Nestlé broke the news to employees in December. The schedule changes eliminated the need for the current number of employees, O’Hearn told the Business Journal.
The plant currently employs 645 workers.
Last year Nestlé Nutrition closed its plant in Minnesota, cutting nearly 250 jobs in a span of two years.
