Two students from Granda Hills Charter's class of 2013 have earned prestigious scholarships: Nancy Guiterrez was recognized as a Gates Millennium Scholar and Hamidah Mahmud as a Milken Scholar.
The Gates Millennium award recognizes high-performing, low-income students, of which Nancy beat 1,000 to win a full ride to the university of her choice.
Hamidah is among 16 other Los Angeles-area students who earned $10,000 to help for college thanks to their good grades and community service.
