Local Teachers Crowdsource for Classroom Funds

While many aspiring filmmakers and video game designers turn to Kickstarter to raise funds for bringing their dreams to life, teachers are now also using crowdsourcing to generate funds to be spent in the classroom.

Adoptaclassroom.org is a website where donations can be made to teachers and their unique needs all over the country.

Some local participating instructors include:

Erika Cornejo is a first grade teacher at Parthenia Elementary School who wants new computers and tablets with educational apps for her underprivileged students.

Vanessa Culp, an eighth grade teacher at Northridge Middle School, seeks funding to keep her 31 computers up to date with current hardware and software.

Ann Gillinger, principal of Chatsworth Hills Academy, is looking to buy more general classroom supplies.

Diann Kutsch, a second grade teacher at Superior Street Elementary in Chatsworth, is seeking updated computers and other new technology for her classroom.

Jo Ann Grofsky, a third grade instructor at Topeka Drive Elementary in Northridge, is looking for colored pencils and other supplies to continue her mathematical art projects for special needs and partially sighted students.
