Man Injured Attempting To Control Fire At Northridge Home: LAFD
A fire broke out in a garage that housed an electric vehicle Monday morning.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — A 60-year-old man suffered minor injuries when he attempted to control a fire that broke out in a garage that housed an electric vehicle Monday morning.
Firefighters responded to a home on Schoenborn Street, northwest of Roscoe Boulevard and De Soto Avenue, at around 11:45 a.m. There, they found a detached garage with heavy smoke and fire showing, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department's Jennifer Middleton.
It took 38 firefighters under 20 minutes to knock down the fire, which was contained to the garage.

An occupant of the home attempted to control the fire before crews arrived and was treated on scene for minor smoke inhalation. He did not require hospitalization.
An LAFD hazardous materials scene responded to the scene to mitigate any hazards associated with the burned electric vehicle.

Middleton told Patch the case of the fire is under investigation. Officials have not determined whether the EV was the source of the fire.
