Man Killed As Prius, Speeding Scion Tied To Earlier Hit-And-Run Collide In Valley Crash

The Scion driver is suspected in a hit-and-run crash that occurred just 10 minutes earlier, according to reports.

VAN NUYS, CA — One man was killed and another was injured in a collision involving a speeding car in the San Fernando Valley early Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred just 10 minutes after the speeding driver was involved in a hit-and-run crash in Sherman Oaks, according to reports.

Officers responded to Kester Avenue and Saticoy Street after 12:30 a.m., where witnesses told them the driver of a Toyota Prius was traveling north on Kester when he collided with the driver of a Scion, who was heading east on Saticoy, according to the Los Angeles Police Department

The Scion was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash, KTLA reported.

The Prius driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the LAPD.

The Scion driver was freed from the wreckage of the collision by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, who took him to a hospital in stable condition, police said.

Video from the scene aired by KTLA showed debris scattered across Saticoy Street, where the badly damaged vehicles came to a stop.

The driver of the Scion is also suspected in a hit-and-run crash that occurred at Riverside Drive and Woodman Avenue in Sherman Oaks, NBC Los Angeles and Fox 11 reported.

The cause of the collision is under investigation, police said.
