New CSUN President Sworn in
The former president of Cal State Monterey Bay was chosen for the job last year.

Dianne F. Harrison, who has been president of Cal State Northridge since last June, was officially sworn in today during an investiture ceremony, themed "Unlocking Potential, Cultivating Achievement."
Harrison, who was previously president of Cal State Monterey Bay, was sworn in by California State University Chancellor Timothy White during the late-morning ceremony, which was attended by presidents of various other CSU campuses.
Harrison, 62, succeeded Jolene Koester, who served as CSUN president from 2000 until her retirement in 2011.
Harrison came to Monterey Bay following a 30-year career at Florida State University, where she served in various capacities, including faculty member, dean of social work, associate vice president for academic affairs, dean of graduate studies and vice president for academic quality and external programs.
She holds a doctorate in social work from Washington University in St. Louis and a master's of social work and a bachelor's degree in American Studies, both from the University of Alabama.
Her academic and research areas of expertise include HIV prevention among women and minority populations and higher education issues related to social work and university leadership.
A researcher and writer, Harrison has published dozens of articles and two books.
