Officer, Motorcyclist Collide at Reseda and Vanowen

Both commuters are sent to the hospital with unknown injuries.

UPDATE--7:45 p.m.: The motorcylist remains hospitalized in critical, but stable condition, authorities said. The off-duty officer was treated at a hospital and later released. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

A LAPD officer commuting to work in his personal vehicle collided with a motorcyclist at Reseda Boulevard and Vanowen Street in Reseda Monday morning, according to authorities.

The crash was reported at around 6 a.m., said Sgt. Kosal Uch.

The officer, who works out of the West Valley Traffic Division, and the motorcyclist were transported to a hospital with undisclosed injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

As of 9:30 a.m., Vanowen's eastbound and westbound lanes remain closed, Uch said.
