Racehorse Dies Of Apparent Heart Attack At Santa Anita Racetrack

The horse, a 2-year-old filly, died while training, officials say. It was the 14th horse to die at the track in 2024.

ARCADIA, CA — A 2-year-old filly with three career races died Sunday after completing a training session at Santa Anita, track officials announced.

"Dreamworkin experienced a suspected cardiac event after training Sunday morning at Santa Anita Park," Santa Anita reported in a statement Sunday. "She was immediately attended to by an expert team of on-site veterinarians, but she was unable to be revived. Her rider was uninjured."

Dreamworkin is the 14th horse to die from a racing or training injury at Santa Anita in 2024.
