Speeding Truck Hits Tree at St. John Eudes Church; Driver Injured

The driver of a speeding truck lost control and crashed into a tree Tuesday, missing a Catholic church in Chatsworth, police said.

The accident was reported at 4:10 a.m. at in the 9900 block of Mason Avenue at Lassen Street, said Sgt. William Sanders of the Los Angeles Police Department's Devonshire Station. The tree stopped the truck before it could hit the church, he said.

Los Angeles firefighters transported the driver to a hospital for treatment of injuries.
