Students Explore Aviation Careers at Van Nuys Airport

More than 1,000 high school students, over 40 exhibitors and an array of static aircraft Friday participated in the seventh annual The Sky’s the Limit: Aviation Career Day hosted by Los Angeles City Councilmember Tony Cárdenas, Syncro Aviation, Van Nuys Airport (VNY) and The Valley Economic Alliance.

Students were treated to interactive exhibits, airport tours and aircraft displays, including the Kitty Hawk Squadron and helicopters from the Los Angeles Fire Department and Children’s Hospital. 

Syncro Aviation President Pierre Louis-Moroni said, “Students had the valuable opportunity to speak with aviation and aerospace professionals, including VNY Operations, the Los Angeles Fire Department and Airport Police personnel, about what their jobs entail and about how to pursue careers in aviation and aerospace.” 

Added Councilmember Cárdenas, “We thank our sponsors, exhibitors, VNY and the many volunteers who made Aviation Career Day possible. It is through exposure to educational opportunities such as this that our youth gain insight into the many career options available to them, encouraging them to utilize their talents and live out their passions."

“With an aging workforce in the aviation industry, we have to think about its future and share our knowledge with students who show an interest in this vital field,” said VNY Manager Jess Romo.

The Valley Economic Alliance President Ron Wood also participated.
