Take A Bike Tour Of The Metro Orange Line Sunday

Chatsworth locals on Sunday will test their luck with a raffle after taking a bike and walking tour of the area.

CHATSWORTH, CA — Grab your helmets and hop on your bike, Chatsworth, it's time for a community bike ride.

Bikers and power walkers alike will take a tour of the Chatsworth area with multiple path options to accommodate youngsters and the heat.

Participants will meet at the north parking lot of the Chatsworth Metro Station, located at 10040 Old Depot Plaza Rd., at 9 a.m., and the ride will start at 9:30 a.m. But if you want to fuel up before the stroll, grab a Western Bagel and a Starbucks coffee at 8 a.m.

The longest bike path will be 26 miles, which only slightly branches off from the 23-mile bike path. Ditch the bike path altogether and take an eight-mile walk. The routes will cut through Canoga Park, Reseda, Winnetka, Northridge and Porter Ranch.

Don't forget sunscreen and water, though, because this weekend is sure to be a scorcher in Chatsworth. Sunday will bring a high of 89 degrees with a ultraviolet index of 12.

Participants will also have a chance to enter into a raffle.

The event will be cosponsored by a number of community organizations, including the Chatsworth Neighborhood Council, Los Angeles Police Department Devonshire Station, Councilmember John Lee, Subway, Trader Joe's, Metro and Elks USA.

The Orange Metro line runs through the San Fernando Valley and became the first Metro line to switch its fleet to completely electric vehicles in Oct. 2021.
