Terror Last Night in Marina del Rey!

On Saturday night, April 13, 2024, somewhere between 10 and 11 o’clock in the marvelous and beautiful community known as Marina del Rey California, a villain set off a firestorm of bullets from his apartment building that threatened the safety of hundreds of Marina del Rey inhabitants.

This villain was a young man of a particular ethnic background who somehow felt the necessity to open fire with thousands of rounds, from very high-powered rifles on a sleepy wonderful neighborhood. My son and his family were nestled comfortably in their apartment watching television, when the terror broke out.

They could hear hundreds of rounds of bullets flying around the apartment complex as residents, filled with terror, raced into their buildings and locked their doors. My son tried to call 911 but the police telephone line was busy. He called me and my wife to see if we would call 911 and get some help in order to stop this potential killer villain. Let’s not hesitate or haggle about the title, “villain”. This villain had only one thing in his mind, to gain attention by terrifying and threatening his neighbors. His trip consisted of creating a lot of physical harm and even death to a lot of people.

My wife tried to call 911 but fortunately, somebody beat her to it. A huge amount of law enforcement arrived on the scene, including numerous vehicles, helicopters and swat teams. My son, my grandchildren, and my son’s love partner hankered down in fear as the sound of enormous rounds of gunfire echoed through the hallways and stairways of their apartment building. The gunman lived there ...

The rapid gunfire continued for an enormous amount of time as the police covered themselves in protective gear and began their search in order to capture this maniacal villain. I know that sooner or later certain parties will label this as a mental health problem. If this is in fact a mental health problem, how would you explain the genius and motivation for this maniacal individual to be able to purchase and design a full attack force against his neighbors?

Let’s not kid ourselves. This act of terror is the work of a villain's mind and spirit. It is evil, destructive, and shows no presence of the inner character of love. This is heinous and dark.

Here’s the good news. The heroes arrived just in time to save the day and rescue people and a full neighborhood from the threat of terror, violence and murder. One would say, “good job”, but that’s not enough. An assessment of the damage and threat to the emotional, physical and psychological safety of the members and inhabitants of that Marina del Rey apartment, will have to be assessed and processed.

Maybe it raises the question in everyone’s mind of how they would like to live in a world free of this kind of maniacal threat. It’s not about getting rid of the villains, which is a possible strategy in certain political platforms.

Maybe it’s about wishing that a dream for peace can be realized. But, we would all have to become aware that we all possess the archetype and inner universal characters of both the inner villain and the inner peacemaker.

Ahah! But … what triggers it?
