Valley Woman Pleads Not Guilty To Shooting Boyfriend Outside Bar

A San Fernando Valley woman pleaded not guilty Friday to shooting and killing her boyfriend outside a West Hills bar.

WEST HILLS, CA — A Newhall woman facing murder charges has pleaded not guilty to fatally shooting her boyfriend outside a West Hills bar.

Reyanna Villarreal, 25, pleaded not guilty Thursday in the killing of Jose Mendoza, 20, who was shot in a parking lot near a bar in the 22000 block of Roscoe Boulevard on March 5.

Mendoza was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Villarreal was arrested by Los Angeles police within a few hours of the shooting and remains behind bars in lieu of $3 million bail.

She is due back in a San Fernando courtroom May 18, when a date is scheduled to be set for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to require her to stand trial.

If convicted as charged, Villarreal could face up to 40 years to life in state prison, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
