2 Teens Hospitalized In Bay Area Crash, Hit-And-Run Driver At-Large

A 14-year-old girl is at a regional trauma center in critical condition as a result of the crash, police said.

NOVATO, CA — A 14-year-old girl is hospitalized in critical condition and a 15-year-old boy sustained significant injuries in a devastating hit-and-run car wreck early Wednesday morning in Novato.

At about 3 a.m. on Wednesday, there was a major car crash on Ignacio Boulevard between Palmer Drive and Entrada Drive, the Novato Police Department reported.

When officers arrived, they said they found two teenage passengers in a heavily damaged white Ford Edge SUV that police believe struck a tree in the center median during a single-vehicle crash. Police said the driver had fled the scene.

The 14-year-old girl is being treated at a regional trauma center for critical injuries and the 15-year-old boy is in stable condition at a local hospital, police said.

NPD detectives are assisting traffic investigators with identifying and finding the driver.

It is unknown if the driver was under the influence of any substances at the time of the crash.
