• Marin supervisors weigh risks of fire-retardant wood (marinij.com) — Marin County is rethinking a new ban on wood siding and fire-retardant-treated wood in high fire-risk areas, and a Novato-based fireproof coatings company is urging supervisors not to go too far. County fire officials argue long-term maintenance of treated wood is unreliable, while industry representatives insist the science supports its durability. The board will revisit possible changes in January, affecting future construction choices countywide.
