
The Novato Nationals, a 10U fast-pitch All-Star team, won a county-wide tournament May 5-6 by going 6-0 and outscoring their opponents 84-35.
The Nationals, representing the Novato Girls Softball league, beat host San Rafael 15-11 in the title game of the Marin Girls Softball Fastpitch Tournament at San Rafael’s Bernard Hoffman School.
Coach Dan Duncan and Manager Cheri Augusto used 14 players, five of whom pitched: Kayla Simonetti, Jianna Franklin, Courtney Simonetti, Tereza Shea and Alexis Bishop.

Other All-Stars included infielders Summer Lake and Lauren Hvistendahl, outfielders Kenna Chipman, Diana Duncan, Grace Augusto, Maya Weigel-Murphy, Lucy Mogan and Zoe Matheson and catcher Kaitlyn Jigalin.
On the first day, Novato beat the Stars (a group of players throughout Marin) 17-0, Kentfield 20-10 and San Rafael 11-5.

The second day, Novato beat the Stars 10-4 before winning the semifinal game 11-5 over Twin Cities and earning a spot in the final game.
