Pat Kendall Honored by North Bay Children's Center

is pleased to announce that Pat Kendall, medical group administrator for Kaiser Permanente in Marin and Southern Sonoma County, has been named as the recipient of NBCC’s first Champion for Children Award.

The award, which will be presented at the center's spring event "An Evening at the Pines," honors an individual each year in the community who has made a significant contribution to the health and welfare of children and families throughout the North Bay.

“We are thrilled to announce that this year’s honor will go to NBCC Advisory Board Member Pat Kendall,” states Susan Gilmore, NBCC’s Executive Director. “ Pat is a tireless leader who is committed to building a healthy community with an upstream emphasis focused across the spectrum of
prevention.”

Pat was instrumental in establishing the North Bay Children’s Center’s Garden of Eatin’ program as a model for nutrition education in child care environments. Through this innovative hands-on environmental curriculum, young children learn to grow, harvest and eat fresh fruits and vegetables.

Their taste buds are taught to enjoy and appreciate fresh, delicious flavors of naturally, locally grown unprocessed foods. Recognizing its health benefits Pat became and avid champion of NBCC’s Garden of Eatin’ program generating financial support, and community awareness around the importance of healthy eating and the lessons learned in the early years that can lay the foundation for a lifetime of
good health.

North Bay Children’s Center is widely recognized as a leader in early care and education and well known in school communities for our Garden of Eatin’ program that weaves a culture of health and wellness throughout the organization. With programs in Marin and Sonoma County, NBCC serves more than 300 children on a daily basis from birth through 12 years old. NBCC provides high quality
