Elena Wagner, 13-year-old Novato resident and student at Fusion Academy & Learning Center, was recently named PERSONality of the month at the alternative school in San Francisco.
Elena, who has been dancing since she was 2 years old, has grown to love ballet and hip-hop dancing. In fact, whenever she gets a new pair of toe shoes, she'll wear them around her school campus to break them in.
Elena says one reason she is so passionate about dancing is that she can be herself and express how she feels without words.

To continue her development, Elena squeezes ballet and hip hop dance classes into her daily schedule and makes time for conditioning and dance recitals on a regular basis.
To make her schedule more manageable and to give her more time to focus on her dancing, Elena attends Fusion Academy & Learning Center, an alternative college-prep private school offering one-to-one classes and personalized teaching methods for students in grades 6-12. Fusion’s flexible scheduling allows Elena to practice after her classes for longer periods of time and pursue doing what she loves. The school’s unique “no homework” policy also allows for Elena to focus more intensely on dance after school because she is required to finish any extra class work she has at the academy's Homework Café before she leaves campus.

“The way Fusion’s school model operates is suited perfectly for driven students like Elena who have a unique passion outside of school that requires a lot of time, dedication and focus,” said Fusion Academy San Francisco Head of School Sylvia Snyder. “We make it our job to accommodate Elena’s demanding schedule needs so she can not only focus on dancing, but also get the choice education and proper individualized attention she needs in the classroom to succeed in and outside of school.”
