'Battle of the Bells' Returns To Novato Saturday

The annual bell-ringing competition between Novato's police and fire departments will get underway Saturday morning at Pacheco Plaza.

NOVATO, CA — The Novato Police Department and Fire Department will face off Saturday in the annual "Battle of the Bells," spreading some holiday cheer and raising money for The Salvation Army.

The fun gets underway at Marin Coffee Roasters at 10 a.m. at the Pacheco Plaza Shopping Center. Teams comprised of officers and firefighters will compete to see who can ring loudest and longest, accompanied by holiday music and free hot cocoa.

Also booked for the event is Santa, arriving aboard his patrol car sleigh, and organizers say the Grinch could make an appearance, too.
