Bike Path Opens Friday, Restoring Route Between Novato & Petaluma
Slide repairs next to U.S. 101 will continue into the fall, but cyclists will again be able to travel between Novato and Petaluma on Friday.
NOVATO, CA — A temporary bike path will open this week to restore a cycling route between Novato and Petaluma while slide repair work continues next to U.S. 101. According to Caltrans, the path will open Friday on Redwood Boulevard, restoring the connection between Buck Center Drive and San Antonio Road.
The landslide occurred during a storm on March 21, and the damage required significant repairs from Caltrans and PG&E that remain ongoing. The temporary path will allow for a little normalcy to resume.
"Cyclists will be able to ride from Novato to Petaluma and back without major restrictions and with the assistance of flaggers," Caltrans said Friday. "However, some construction activities may require temporary stoppages for cyclists during work hours.
