“What’s important to me is being able to harness the energy of these dedicated parents and local community donors for this great event,” said Anthony Levy, father of a Novato High freshman and the chair of Black & Gold this year. “Everybody knows the situation we’re in with funding in the schools. Everybody gets asked to donate this and donate that, and yet they’re still happy to do so. It’s so wonderful that it’s like that.”

The program is backed with fun things this year. There will be music from the Jazz Band and MSA Dance program plus DJ music. Live auction items include a vacations in Costa Rica, Mexico and Lake Tahoe. There will be a wide variety of silent auction items and raffle prizes. Dinner entrees are prime rib or salmon.

Levy said the important thing to keep in mind is that proceeds go directly to the Novato High teachers. “It’s the only nondiscretionary funds they have all year long,” Levy said. “They can choose exactly what they want for the classroom. They are so appreciative.”

The party goes from 6-11 p.m. at Fireman’s Fund, 777 San Marin Drive. Tickets are $60 and can be purchased by e-mailing suzannie1@comcast.net or by calling 897-6244.
