'Determined Leader With A Kind Heart': Novato Hero

NOVATO, CA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

This submission comes from Jennifer Brush of Novato, who nominated her friend of more than 30 years, Krystalynn Schlegel, also of Novato.

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?

In five short weeks, she has raised just under $20,000 through the Novato community's donations to help support our local struggling restaurants, and in turn, feeding the frontline and essential workers. She's touched many corners of the community, including the Kaiser medical staff, the police department, the school district and city workers by serving over 1,000 meals to various locations.
