Drew Gasparini Broadway Bound with "The Karate Kid - The Musical"

San Marin graduate Drew Gasparini on his way to Broadway with "The Karate Kid - The Musical." The rest of the family doing great things too

The Karate Kid – The Musical is an adaptation of the movie. A recent theatre review from reviewstl.com said this of the premier in St Louis-“The Karate Kid – The Musical wowed me with its fantastic songs, exciting choreography and high production values. Kamen (who wrote the original book teamed up with Drew Gasparini (Crazy Just Like Me, Smash, Skittles Commercial the Musical ) who wrote the music and lyrics. Right from the opening number, it is clear the musical did not come to mess around. The songs in the show are excellent. Gasparini does a brilliant job conveying the emotional heart of the story through song. The show is headed to Broadway in the spring of 2023. Drew got his start in community theatre and San Marin High School but New York is where he creates his magical music in concerts and shows. He has had his eye on Broadway since High School and it looks like that dream is coming alive.

Older Brother, Danny Gasparini (Long Beach State, Dominican College, San Francisco State) is a Master 5th grade teacher and ceramacists. He has won many awards for teaching. Kasie Gasparini Burkhardt (graduate of Chico State and Boston Conservatory) is a talented actress and writer. Kasie is waiting to see if her sitcom “Folk” will be picked up while she awaits her biggest production yet – her first child. Kasie has been involved in many Broadway original readings and off Broadway shows as well as many commercials

His younger sister, Chloe (Chloe George, stage name) is a singer song writer (a graduate of NYU Clive Davis Institute). Her song “ghost town” has had over 60 million hits on Spotify. Chloe had her first big live gig on June 14 opening for Del Water Gap. While she has written for several artists over the last 2 years, her dream is to be a solo artist, she has 2 singles out now “Peachie” and “The Door” and her EP is slated to come out in early fall.

How did this all this wonderful talent happen: Their parents!!! Mom - Kele Gasparini, singer, songwriter actress, director (San Marin musicals for the last 8 years) and voice teacher who developed curriculum at Marin Primary and Middle School for over 20 years. Her kids used to come to class with her from an early age and that is where they developed their love of music. She encouraged them to pursue their dreams through theatre and music. Dad - George is a Led Zeppelin inspired drummer and is always the kids biggest fan.

They were all products of San Marin High School Music and Performing Arts department (smARTt- San Marin Arts and Technical Arts). They all participated in the Musicals, jazz choirs, concert choirs, Jazz bands, Drama productions, competitions, Mountain Plays, Community theatre – Marilyn Izdebski and Stapleton Theatres. They took music all four year at San Marin High School from the incomparable – music teacher Emily Gates.
