Suspect Identified In Hit-An-Run Crash That Injured Two Bay Area Teens

A 14-year-old girl was sent to the hospital in critical condition after the car crashed into a tree, police said.

NOVATO, CA — Police identified the 18-year-old driver suspected of fleeing a crash that sent a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy to the hospital with significant injuries Wednesday in Novato.

Novato Police Department officers said they arrested Cristofer Larreinaga Corea, 18, of San Rafael Wednesday on suspicion of child endangerment and hit-and-run causing injury. Corea may be subject to additional charges pending the medical outcomes of injured passengers, according to the Novato Police Department.

At about 3 am on Wednesday, police said Corea crashed a white Ford Edge SUV into a tree on Ignacio Boulevard between Palmer Drive and Entrada Drive.

Officers said they found two teenage passengers in the heavily damaged SUV.

Police said Corea fled and was not located during a search despite the assistance of the Marin County Sheriff drone team.

Both passengers were transported to local hospitals for treatment. One passenger, a 14-year-old girl, is being treated at a regional trauma center for critical injuries. The other passenger, a 15-year-old boy, sustained significant injuries and is in stable condition at a local hospital, police said.
